Greeting Card Etiquette

1. When is it appropriate to send a thank you card?

Sometimes, people feel it is necessary to send a thank you card only when they have received a present or gift. It may be viewed as excessive to send one any other time. For instance, if you met a friend for lunch that you haven't seen for a long time, is it too much to send him or her a thank you? The best way to look at it is to send a greeting, no matter what the occasion or circumstance, when it is coming from your heart. If you feel like sending one, don't hold back. Follow your heart, and spread the good cheer!

2. If you miss someone's birthday, until when is it too late to send them a card? And should it say, "Happy Belated Birthday"?

If you miss your loved one's birthday, you probably feel pretty badly. And I'm sure you feel worse than they do. He or she knows everyone's so busy these days, and it's hard to stay on top of all your schedules and dates. Sending your birthday wishes late is better than not sending one at all. It's not necessary to say, "Happy Belated Birthday" or apologize for sending it late because it just draws attention to that aspect, and takes away from the overall good sentiment. Just send it like you would if it were on time. To avoid missing any more dates, try using our free reminder service! Not only will you send all your cards on time, your card might even be the first one they receive!

3. Is it professional to send handwritten business correspondence?

We're all taught to send emails or typed letters for business correspondence. It looks more professional, and is the appropriate way of communicating. Nowadays, as technology evolves, business correspondence methods are becoming more diverse and casual, incorporating even text messages and short emails with improper grammar and punctuation. With all these other acceptable methods, why not send handwritten business correspondence, too? It's more personal and memorable, and adds a touch of design and individuality beyond emails, typed letters, or text messages. In this technological age, we can all still be human and connect through handwritten messages.
